Overview:
The Director, Fleet Maintenance is responsible for daily management of fleet service operations of a well known regional lease and rental company with over 700 heavy and medium duty trucks. Manage, develop, and maintain culture for employees across 7 locations in southeast Wisconsin and Rockford, IL. Ensure delivery of excellent customer service while controlling costs, executing tasks with high urgency and effective communication.
Responsibilities:
Schedule repairs, assign jobs, monitor progress, and collaborate with dealerships and vendors
Interface directly with customers, resolve concerns and issues with high levels of professionalism
Develop, implement, and track a comprehensive maintenance schedule for fleet vehicles
Manage outside repairs and over-the-road breakdowns in a cost-effective and timely manner
Make timely decisions and produce plans to maintain the lowest possible costs of ownership for all trucks in the fleet, ensuring optimal uptime and high customer satisfaction
Supervise and manage 25+ technicians and support staff, maintain a close-knit and hardworking culture. Hire, develop, and train staff to ensure growth and ability to meet future business needs
Review monthly financial results against business plan and initiate corrective action as needed
Meet with employees regularly and comply with company 1:1 meeting process and target dates
Regularly evaluate employee skill levels and needs, ensuring dealer and OEM training goals are met
Administrative responsibilities to include review and posting of repair orders, reconciliation of parts inventory, work in process, and warranty review
Develop and implement processes to review repair orders and identify opportunities to recover dollars from vendors or component manufacturers via warranty, programs, or policy
Provide insight into annual business planning process and implement plans to achieve maintenance to revenue (MTR) and substitute unit expense goals
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance or a similar role
Strong knowledge of heavy and medium duty truck maintenance and repair processes
Excellent leadership and team management skills with relevant experience
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to communicate effectively – in-person, by phone, and by email
A high sense of urgency is a strict requirement. You will not be effective in this role without it
Valid driver’s license. Have or have ability to obtain and maintain commercial driver’s license (CDL)
