Overview
The Parts Counterperson – Lead serves as the subject matter expert in the parts department, offering guidance and support to team members and assisting the Assistant Parts Manager in overseeing daily operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and accurate fulfillment of customer needs, both over the phone and in person, by leveraging extensive product knowledge. The Parts Counterperson – Lead also helps manage inventory, provides expertise in parts procurement, and contributes to maintaining an organized and well-functioning parts department.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the go-to expert for parts-related questions, helping both customers and team members.
Respond quickly and effectively to customer parts requests, offering prompt solutions and guidance.
Communicate with customers in case of delays, offering alternatives and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Determine parts availability, pricing, and document all necessary information accurately.
Supply parts from inventory, procure locally, or place parts orders as needed per dealership guidelines.
Monitor customer orders, resolve issues as they arise, and notify customers upon parts arrival.
Help manage and maintain department inventory, ensuring stock levels are sufficient and accurate.
Work closely with the Assistant Parts Manager and Regional Parts Manager to streamline department processes and improve overall efficiency.
Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced parts counter staff, ensuring high-quality customer service and productivity.
Assist with training new employees on parts operations, customer interaction, and best practices.
Handle a high volume of calls and in-person customers efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
Collaborate with the Assistant Parts Manager to resolve operational challenges and continuously improve department performance.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Parts experience, particularly in a truck or automotive dealership or aftermarket environment and Trade school education in Parts Operations or Transportation Technology are preferred. Extensive product knowledge and expertise in parts inventory and procurement processes.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex customer inquiries.

Ability to lead by example, providing guidance and support to team members while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all transactions and inventory management.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
A commitment to continuous learning and improvement, both personally and within the department.
Must be able to prioritize company goals and work as part of a team to achieve shared objectives.
Fast-paced dealership environment with a focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with Assistant Parts Manager and team members.
